CONFUSED
Why is it "はなせます", not "はなします"?
Please teach me a lot.
はなせます
はなせます is the potential form, and means 'able to speak'.
If you said 日本語を少しはなします you'd be saying "I'll speak a little Japanese" and people would wait for your to give your little speech in Japanese. (Ok, more likely they'd recognize it as a mistake since that would be an odd thing to say, but still.)
ありがとう!
Thanks a lot Chris, you're the man!
Please teach me a lot.
Great Help!
I'm a newbie here, and this post really helped me get a jumpstart .. Please keep up the good work ... =)
question
i asked this before but here it seems more obvious,"nihongo ga sukoshi hanasemasu" the "ga" sounds like "na" again, is it "na" or a nasal "ga". thank you
pronouncing feeling i think
not ssuree.
macross forever

Just started.. Wishing to be able to make it a 'long-term memory'
Any suggestions how?

Great and simple lessons!
I have recently been hired to a DFS store in my area and of course, I needed to brush up on my basic conversational Japanese for the job. This site, I found on a Google search, is a great and simplistic approach to learning some basic everyday conversational phrases when dealing with Japanese customers. Kudos for the efforts as well as keeping up with the lessons! Ganbatte kudasai!
