CAPITAL : Yokohama City

Kanagawa is located in the southern part of the Kanto region. Yokohama with its 3.6 million population is its capital.

In 1853 Commodore Matthew Perry landed in Kanagawa. Yokohama was the largest foreign trading port around the end of the Edo period.
