RE: Kanji That You Hate/Love

The kanji I'm currently in love with is 慰 (イ、なぐさ・める)meaning to comfort or to console. In small fonts like the one I'm looking at now, it's really hard to see, but when you write it, it's got that 愛 feeling to it.

RE: Genki v.s. Minna No Nihongo?

I've never used Genki, but I did use the second part of Mina no Nihongo, and I loved it, it had many samples, the vocab was used repeatadly throughout and was really well put together. You can also buy an English explaination book to go along with it. My Japanese was not coming along at all until I ...

RE: dekai

You got me wondering, so I looked it up and according to excite.co.jp 's 国語辞典 it's a 形容動詞 (na adj). It goes on to say that it has two "conective" forms (if anyone can give me a better translation of 連体形 please do so) with and without な. I can't quite figure out one part of it because it was never co...

RE: keyboarding question

If you pronounce しゃ as "shiya" you're actually saying しや, which you should be careful of because it doesn't just sound weird, it'll become a different word.:)

RE: Thoughts of "the tense" (J-post)

Coco, sorry, didn' know. I've read it now and I think I'm up to speed. However, sticking to the topic of "Thoughts of 'the tense'", how much can one say is revealed in the language's stucture about how speakers of that language feel about time? The Japanese post is definitely about how Japanese thin...

課 is the counter for lessons, but lessons in a text book are genreally chapters. 話 would be the counter for conversations. 章 is the counter for chpaters in a novel.

RE: Thoughts of "the tense" (J-post)

Sorry I kind of jumped about, my time was limited and now it's up. If no one has finished the longer sections, I'll get to them when I'm back. Personally, I think this is one of those "Why foreigners can't learn Japanese" style things or "Why Japanese have a hard time learning English". I don't quit...
