Exchange PSN/Gamertags with Native Speakers

Hey guys, I just setup a website where users can exchange Playstation Network usernames or Xbox Live Gamertags with native speakers of the language they're learning. So you can play Nazi zombies with Japanese speakers and learn tons of new survival vocab/curse words! It's called DatLanguage (...

Japanese Playstation Network

Has anyone tried to play with Japanese speaking people over Playstation Network?

Is it possible?

I made a Japanese PSN account, and it doesn't change anything except for the PSN Store.

Re: Rosetta stone with textbooks?

Hi! I agree with helephant that Rosetta Stone is amazing for vocabulary. Rosetta Stone was the reason I started learning Japanese (a friend had me try Jap RS), and I'll never forget the words I've learned from it. All the basic verbs and what not were ingrained in my head before I ever bought a text...

Re: Domestic PS3 games containing Japanese version on disc

If anyone's interested in a game that isn't on the list above, I found this site: http://boardsus.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Lounge/Japanese-PS3-Games-Which-ones-have-English/m-p/32440545 . It's a list of some Japanese games that have English support. Now, obviously most of those probably aren't...

Read this before all the Black Friday deals are gone!

Hello everyone! Today I bought Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction from Walmart (among other things I purchased) for $10, and when I got home and put it into my PS3, whose language is set to Japanese, the game was fully in Japanese! Even the cut scenes! So maybe some of you west coaster's...

Re: Has anyone heard of the "Japanese Stage-Step Course"?

Hmm well that review seems accurate. I'm almost done with Genki 1 and decided to browse around before getting Genki 2. I'll probably just stick with Genki. Thanks for the reply! By the way, can you link me to the review you found?

Has anyone heard of the "Japanese Stage-Step Course"?

I was browsing Amazon and found this textbook. It's relatively new (2009) and seems very promising. There aren't any reviews that I could find, and I was wondering if anyone here has heard anything about them? The series comes in a Grammar textbook, two workbooks, writing practice, and a CD. (all of...

Yes, those are the ones. I'd recommend only getting the Genki 1 textbook though. You don't need the workbook or CD's.

Re: Newbie enlisted!

Welcome! Where'd you order Yotsuba&? I've been trying to get ahold of the first one in the series for a while.

Also, I'd recommend you get the Genki textbook. I've tried almost every textbook, and I've found Genki to be the best overall.

Re: Hello there!

I've tried a LOT of textbooks.

In the end, I've stuck with Genki. I highly recommend it over JFE, even though JFE is good.

Re: ohai

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I'm not leaving the site altogether, just the forum.

I actually purchased an iPad app today and found out it's partnered with TheJapanesePage.com! It's a Genki I study app. Anyone heard of it? I'm going to be doing a review later.
