Re: Is there a way to talk to Mangakas?

I think your best bet would be to (learn Japanese,) get a copy of the Japanese manga and then write to the address provided for fanmail. I'm sure I've heard others talk about that...once upon a time.

Re: Easy Language Exchange

Ah, I have just joined Lang-8...so I'm afraid I won't be joining another site :( Best wishes though!
I can't keep up even with this site, and the others all at once.

So little time...

Re: hello everyone!

Welcome, barbarr! Best wishes in your Japanese studies. I have no idea what sort of language Tamil is, but highly recommend that you do learn it while you have your parents there to help you with it. Do not pass up the chance to be taught by teachers who (don't charge you money and) actually care ab...

Re: Japanese or Chinese major more 'beneficial'

I've considered the same decision. Then I attempted to get just one tone down and failed horribly, miserably, utterly, and realized how hard it is to make sounds with your mouth that people who've been learning since birth can make effortlessly! (that was Chinese) So now I'm learning Japanese. From ...

Elementary Japanese by Yoko Hasegawa - Review

The only other info on this is here: http://thejapanesepage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6530&p=73768&hilit=elementary+japanese+yoko+hasegawa#p73768(a somewhat argumentative thread about Hasegawa’s linguistic theory…) So while I am definitely not the most qualified person to review this I am doing...

"request entity too large"?

I just typed up a great big long book review, clicked preview, and ended up with a page reading "request entity too large". Previous to that, I ended up on that page after attempting to attach a picture which I assume was too big. Where are the maximum file size guidelines for attachments, and also ...

Re: NAMASTE !!!

Greetings! My advice for improving pronunciation? Watch lots of Japanese movies and imitate their pronunciation. Listen, pause, repeat what they just said. That way you're exposing yourself to different people's speech instead of one person's overly precise pronunciation on one "learn to speak" DVD ...

Re: Hello! New Japanese Learner...

Yes, ji is the word for time. I found that I wanted to introduce myself to kanji before my textbook did, even though it introduces new kanji each chapter I want to use more sooner, at least for now. (I'm using Elementary Japanese by Yoko Hasegawa) It makes reading the sentences much simpler than try...

ハナミズキ. Darn thing made me cry. There's nothing harder than staying in a small town while almost everyone you care about leaves. Nothing. It was really hard to watch the same thing in a movie!

Hajimemashite. Douzo yorishuku. (Clearly, I'm not on here often. In fact I haven't even enabled IME on my new PC yet and I've had it for awhile now  ) I do a lot more lurking than actual signing in and posting. Partly because I have a pathetically irregular study routine and therefore try to ...
