Confused about the usage of に

Hi! I recently found this sentence; ドアを閉めてから、鍵を置いてきたこと に 気がついた。 After I shut the door, I remembered I had left my key behind. I wonder, what function does the particle に have here? Is it a indirect object marker? If that's the case, could you point me in the direction of a good article that explains...

Regarding "To" for quotation, thoughts, etc

Hi, again! I have some more questions regarding the particle "to", quotations, thoughts, and so on. I wonder if I can use particles both to express present thoughts, as well as past thoughts. Let me give examples of sentences I think that she was nice; 彼女は親切だったと思う I thought that she was nice; 彼女は親切だ...

Re: Reg. Neither...nor

HI! I apologize for replying so late; I had a cold, and after that I was distracted by Christmas preparations. Hello SebastianSwede. Hi LOTF, let me try to reinforce your explanation from another viewpoint. :) The key would be to note the word “で”, I guess. a) ボブはお金 も 食べ物 も ないのでとっても困っています。 VS b) ボブが...

Re: Reg. Neither...nor

One example of neither...nor goes like this: ジムもサムもフットボールの選手じゃない. Neither Jim nor Sam is a football player. However, another example goes like this; 妹はピアニスト で も歌手 で もありません (not bold in original) My younger sister is neither a pianist nor a singer. Why is there a で in one of the examples? Is it beca...
