RE: Learn Japanese with Anki

I'm not a fan of automated input. Once you move beyond very simple vocabulary like "cat" and "red", you really need to see the word used in context before trying to memorize it. Edict's example sentences are of very varying quality and they're no substitute for a real textbook.

RE: Learn Japanese with Anki

Anki has a new website. Syncing will be broken until I release 0.3.9 (which will be soon).

If you got the files from the backup directory, you need to rename them to something.anki first. If you're still having troubles, it's possible the virus got at the files too.

RE: Learn Japanese with Anki

I find it hard to believe that would happen. If you've run the auto-updater, to get the new version, nothing is removed - it just overwrites the previous Anki files with a new version. If you explicitly ran the uninstaller yourself, then the \Program files\Anki directory will not be removed if any e...

RE: Learn Japanese with Anki

Cards are only mature after they've been _correctly answered_ after 7-9 days. So when you correctly answer them, they get a new interval like 21 days. 21 days later, if you fail the card, then that will be marked as a failure in the "correct mature cards" section. The cell phone should be recording ...

Koryo: some basic stats should be displayed up the top - like Now: 0/0 (0.0%) Avg: 0.0%. Rem: 615 ETA: Unknown Do they not show for you? As for scrolling on the Flash version, this is something I've wanted to fix for a long time, but haven't known how and haven't investigated much. I'll put a note o...

And in quick succession, 0.3.8: * More scheduling changes o Final review time is now customizable, and defaults to 5 hours. This makes it easier to study in batches, and the further reach gives you something to do while waiting for failed cards. o The "made a mistake" delay is now separated into you...

RE: Learn Japanese with Anki

After a busy 3 months, I've put out a new release. * LaTeX support for equations * A number of scheduling changes o Cards are shown in order of relative delay, instead of deck order. o Support for "high priority": cards will go to the top of the "new" pile, but will not take priority over existing r...

RE: Learn Japanese with Anki

Glad everyone is finding it useful! sushi4: Anki already has a mobile phone interface which works on any mobile phone in Japan. There are no plans for a PDA version at this time, since I don't have a PDA and the resources on PDAs are so limited. An ultra-portable PC is a better bet if you want to st...
