The ratings for this scale still exist in the item descriptions in the store, but I was not able to find th...

Actually, you don't need the の:

Re: How do I practice Transistive and Intransistive verbs?

What's the difference between 上る 上がる? As I understand it: 上がる - to go up, to rise 階段を上がる。Go up the stairs. 上げる - to raise, to lift (up) 箱を上げる。Lift the box. 上(のぼ)る - to go up 彼女は血が上る。Her blood is up! あげる - to give, is written in hiragana. Edited to say: HINT: Don't start at the end or middle. It's b...

Re: What to buy for self study

I'm currently learning Japanese through self-study. I use: Genki 2 Textbook Basic Kanji Book Vol.1 These are more than enough to keep me busy and moving forward with my Japanese at a modest rate. I drill my vocab on flashcardexchange.com, and I also have a Canon Wordtank G55 (which I don't yet use v...

Though I haven't yet seen the first season of Hana Yori Dango I am enjoying Hana Yori Dango Returns.

Oh, and I watched 'Boku no aruku michi' as well, but that finished a few months ago.

jziemba: The new season of Hana Yori Dango started about four weeks ago, it's on Friday night from 10pm.

RE: Reading Help #2

Get the Japanese Graded Readers Lv 1 or 2. They were released last month. I saw them in a book shop about a week ago and they're exactly what you are looking for. Lvl 1 is ONLY 4 kyuu kanji with furigana. Lv 2 is 4kyuu and some 3 kyuu kanji.

And they come with an audio CD!

RE: Credit Cards

It's true that Japan is a cash based society. It's also true that you won't be able to use the large majority of ATMs with foreign cards. However, I've been able to use my foreign deibt and credit cards to withdraw cash from CitiBank ATMs. Foreigner-friendly ATMs are highlighted on the maps of most ...
