Re: JLPT Results?

皆、合格おめでとうございます! After nearly 2 years of studies I managed to pass 3 kyu with a nice score : 文字・語彙 97/100 聴解 91/100 読解・文法 185/200 総合点 373/400 FeralBoyさん, I must admit I admire your decision to sit 3 kyu with oly six months of studying Japanese. If I'd done that, I doubt I would've even gotten ...

Re: Anyone playing Persona 4?

I'm playing too and I'm totally obsessed with it ^^. I took up the undub version though, much like Persona 3, mainly because I believe the Japanese dub is way better and this way I can actually practice my listening. I liked the previous game's city setting a bit more than Persona 4's rural environm...

Re: あなた

I've encountered a similar situation when playing Persona 4. The scene is at the beginning of the game when the main character, a 17-year-old teenager, is introduced to Igor, a kind of host of the place they meet - the Velvet room. Igor welcomes the boy and tells him of what lies ahead of him in rid...

Re: JLPT 2 2008/2009

Count me in. I don't really know to conduct the meetings but I'd be more than happy to learn together in a group. In my opinion everyone who's thinking of taking 2 kyuu should benefit from this so don't be shy people and give your vote for katafei's neat idea ^^.

Re: JLPT 3級 2008

「上手でなくても、かまいませんか?」 is grammatically fine and that should be the correct answer. You don't always need the は. Congratulations and お疲れ様 for finishing the JLPT, BTW. :D ありがとう :) 。Curse my poor informal japanese skills -__- . Just as a side note, this is not an issue of informal Japanese -- even though...

Re: 後10分で vs. 後10分に

I see, thank you.
I also asked a friend of mine who doesn't study from her textbooks too much but watches a lot of anime and she said she has heard some people say 後10分と7時です。Is that even correct or has she simply misheard the particle?

後10分で vs. 後10分に

I'm not really sure which is correct to say, because I know that に is used when reffering to time, but still I have a feeling it should be 後10分で , because I 後で means "after that". The whole sentence is :
後10分で(or に)7時です。

Re: JLPT 3級 2008

Hi, I just got back in my hometown after taking the test yesterday. I found the first part to be quite easy, I think I finished about 15 minutes before the time limit was over and had the opportunity to correct a few mistakes I made on the answer sheets  . The first part of the listening was o...

Re: expressing "cheesy" in japanese.

Has anybody watched Great Teacher Onizuka? It is the only J-drama I have seen and I find it quite good, mainly because of the actor who plays the lead character Onizuka Eikichi. I hear the last episode of the drama was the show with the highest TV rating in Japan ever.

Re: ~なくなる vs. ~ないようになる

Can somebody please clarify whether ~なくなる = ~ないようになる ? For example, would 飲めなくなる have the same meaning as 飲めないようになる?
