RE: Sentence Pattern References

I really like those books and recommend it especially to complement a textbook.
I'll have to check out the dictionary.

RE: JLPT4 Preperation plan

Do you guys have the jlpt3/4 book from this site?

http://www.thejapanshop.com/home.php?cat=266

Is it good? Would it still 'require' to buy a textbook like Genki?

RE: Impossible to learn on your own?

I think its definately possible to learn without going through your typical college school system. You can actually learn quicker on your own if you are motivated and go outside the box and be consistent. I don't think you can be fluent unless you live in Japan. I plan to communicate regularly with ...

RE: JLPT4 Preperation plan

Thanks for the reply! The thing i like about the JLPT is that it gives me a goal and a direction. I read numerous comments that it isn't the most practical way to really learn the language. I may just prepare for the tests on 1 side, and on the other, i will utilize a more real-world approach with c...

JLPT4 Preperation plan

I just read about JLPT and i plan on taking it December. I'm considering the approach to preparing. I have all the Kanji (100) and Vocabulary (800) listed. So, i will, off-course, study each word. Comes out to learning 25 words/week and 4 kanji/week till beginning of Dec. As far as the Reading/Gramm...

RE: Why hello thar.

Hi Greta:

Those are admirable goals and i feel my future is in japan as well.
You could also move to Japan first and then get fluent. That might be an
easier way to be fluent. :)

RE: Memorization of Japanese Words

Thanks alot guys! I would say my 'level' as a student is 3rd semester. I'm going through some japanese sentence pattern books and picking out the words that i don't know that they review each chapter. I write them down on paper. Then i quiz myself in both english and japanese. The sentence pattern b...

Memorization of Japanese Words

About how many new words do you think is about right to learn a week? 25/50/100 or more? I am trying to figure out how to approach a rigorous consistent study plan. One part is vocabulary development. I am not a beginner and not fluent. Any insight on how to better remember japanese words would be a...
