RE: Jobs & Careers

Why only 3%? And why call it delusion? Dreams are dreams, if you doubt yourself you will most certainly fail. Plenty of gaijin become celebrities.

RE: Jack in the box

Nah, little kids love that kind of thing. They'll sit there doing it over and over and giggling. Its anticipation of not knowing when the toy will pop out, not any kind of shock value that is the draw.

RE: 雨の日

雨の日really means both if you think about it. It's just a difference of being a commonly spoken phrase. In English we call a day of rain a "rainy day" but someone new to English could translate it into "day of rain" being unaware. Either way its not a sunny dry day. ;) Edit: I thought about the same t...

Meanings of kanji are like meanings of greek and latin roots, and you can know English quite well without knowing any of those. RE: Hanabi in Tokyo 11/8

Nothing was wrong with it! How does "I misunderstood" = "something being wrong"? Why would you try to turn something so insignificant into an accusation of some vague wrongdoing on my part? I asked you already WHAT it was you THOUGHT I meant and I still got no answer. Now if you'll excuse me I'm goi...

There's also a short explanation in the FAQ.
None of my books (I don't really have many) do not explain this, and the explaination is blank in the wiki.

RE: Japanese fansubbing

AJBryant that is really funny. I've seen plenty of subs that are so differerent from the words I'm hearing that I can usually catch bad translations, HOWEVER, anything is better than a dub. You wanna talk about crappy translation and mismatched meanings, and the english voices are usually so far off...

RE: Why should I learn Japanese?

I'm talking about this thread. If you dislike the people here enough to complain about them on this poor guys thread, then why stick around? If these things annoy you to the point that you can't ignore them, then thats your own problem and not this guy. Everyone is being nice enough to give him an h...
