RE: けど?

I'll look through the nelson's and sanseido's dictionaries and maybe a couple of others and then pick out one.

RE: けど?

I guess I'll just get a better dictionary then. The J-E one I got now isn't all that great but I thought I could get by with it and my textbook. So is Sanseido's Concise a really good dictionary?

けど?

What does けど mean/stand for in this sentence?
おてらおみにいくつもりでしたけど、 てんきがよくなかったから、 いきませんでちた。
I know the sentence is talking about how somebody planned to go to a temple but didn't because of poor weather, but, I'm still not quite sure what けど is and why its there.

RE: The Kanji Dictionary

Maybe I'm just thinking theres more to kanji than there actually is. I guess I'll stick with Genki's kanji for now.

So they're rough jobs that pay good pretty much. I guess it doesn't sound too bad though as long as they do pay pretty good and aren't extremely dangerous.

RE: The Kanji Dictionary

It doesn't explain kanji compounds or really talk about it that much. It just sort of gives them to you. The genki textbook is good even though there aren't many kanji in the textbooks its just I want to know a little more about kanji before I start learning them.

RE: The Kanji Dictionary

What would you consider a good kanji textbook? I have the Genki textbook right now but it doesn't seem to explain all the workings of kanji very well.

Saying you're very goog/bad at something.

I already know how to say that someone is good or bad at something but how would you say someone is very good/bad at something? I'm thinking that you would just place totemo right before jouzu/heta desu but I just want to make sure of it.

The Kanji Dictionary

I've been studying japanese for a while now and its been bugging me that I only know about 10 kanji so I was wanting to start learning them. So my question is that is this a book you can learn from or would it be better being used with another book such as Kanji & Kana 1&2? Also, I'm probably going ...
