There might be a problem with those art contests though - Anyone can steal artwork from other sites and post here as their own.

More diversity in contests always implies and guarantees more people interested in participating. In Lamen's terms, I'm sure there a bunch of artists studying Japanese for the mere beauty of its calligraphy, so why not give them a chance to unveil their artistic abilities for the good of the site?
