RE: "desu"

I'm still not used to double negatives... it doesn't make sense to me to say "isn't not very <something>"

I was taught that "nai" was the contracted form of arimasen... either way, "ja nai" is exactly the same as "dewa arimasen" only less formal, right?

RE: ???

Mine and Harisenbon's are.... absolutely nothing alike! Still, I am encouraged that I did get a few things half right. Considering I had to look up every single word and my grammar still sucks, I feel like I've made some progress today. *bounce*

RE: ???

Harisenbon!! Did I get most of it pretty well?

The "until then" paragraph I think I have messed up. Would it be more correct to say "Until then, it was said by a great many people of Darumaska that the Hero Basshu could not be beaten."?

RE: Disappearing posts

I guess it really depends on the content of your post, which I didn't see. It's odd, since I'm around way more frequently than most mods (I'm a stay at home mom, so I check the forums like a billion times a day) and I didn't see that topic. not to mention, there've been way worse topics than THAT on...

RE: Disappearing posts

Uh... what was your thread?

EDIT:
And if you didn't put a subject, and just hit "post thread" it doesn't post one with no warning message like "You need to specify a subject".

I just tried to see what would happen.

The mods here almost never delete posts.

... Well, I was pretty sure that it had something to do with "Arcadia". Machine translators are bad, ok? Never use them. "From the time of the Arcadia Kingdom's invasion until they accepted surrender, Darumaska Kingdom's Knight Company met knights (of the enemy). During this period, they rode forth ...

Then it's what you thought, more like the "um" thing.

「えー・・・ ダヴィドです」

Sometimes they'll elongate drawn out sounds mimicing speech with extra kana, it's the same thing.

RE: e-ichi?

don't confuse the dash ( forgot what it's actually called ) with the kanji for ichi. Visually, it's difficult to distinguish, at least in typed text (vs. handwritten). Contextually, it's easy... mostly because it's not generally followed by anything I usually think of ichi as being followed with (ts...

RE: kanji

It will, but Heisig's method says it works best if you just do it "his way" from start to finish. You could try to mix it, but I hear people really get confused that way. I guess it depends on your capacity to assimilate it all well enough. If it works for you, definately do it! I think it would be ...
