RE: Wasted chance!

In my experience, Chinese women can occasionally have rounder faces and a shorter chin. Normally, I'm terrible memorizing faces, but the reason I remember this one is because it similar to {the more pronounced in Chinese as it covers the entire jawline} the rounded chins you see a lot of Polish wome...

RE: Best anime for practicing one's Japanese?

I think just about any anime can be good for practice, provided you get your hands on a downloaded script to read along with the dialog.some of the bigger ones actually have romanized complete scripts online. I've seen some for Inuyasha episodes for example, which combined with how easy the particula...

RE: Opinions on the Genki Series?

from what I wrote in another topic: " Genki is very good, and as one of the most pleasant sounding voice acting crews for their teacher CDs {I've never heard the student one, but I assume they're just the abridged teacher's version}. The problem with this series is that the teachers manual is requir...

don't kick yourself too hard. This kind of thing happens to the best of us, especially when involving the approaching of complete and total strangers. About a week or so ago, I was at a new doctor's office. His name was spelled like the Ellis Island version of a Japanese name, with the u chopped off ...

Go ahead and laugh...... sometimes I forget not everyone is as obsessed with music as I am ;-) Anyway, a program like dasher would be much easier to use than a keyboard to type Japanese in my opinion. http://w...

RE: Happy Birthday!

You know, the Japanese have this really cool thing with blood types. From what I've been told, they use it like we used the horror scope in other countries to tell about your compatibility with other people. They think that your blood type tells all about you in your personality. It's pretty cool :-...

spoken Japanese vs. written Japanese difficulties

in my personal experience, spoken Japanese is difficult: written Japanese is a joyous simplicity with the right dictionaries and grammatical decoding books at hand. until a couple of days ago, I had no idea how truly horrible my listening skills were. After all, I've been praised a lot for my pronun...

Mother's Day=May 9th {or the second Sunday of May for every year not 1976 for those countries that don't celebrate it.} I remember when I was little going to my grandmother's house for my birthday and nearly all the presents being for her-- at times all for her. Apparently it was too complicated for...
