Yeah I would prefer learning more about grammar than Kanji at this time as I think it would be more useful.

RE: Why You Want To Learn Japanese

Hmm my parents come from HK and I am interested in cultures/countries within Asia. As well since so many people say Japanese is difficult, I wanted a challenge.

I can't wait as well, hopefully tomorrow will prove to be helpful. Does anyone know what happened to the OP? Hopefully he is not too sick. I want to know what time is 3pm CST in GMT time? I'm from the UK.

RE: 2007 JLPT 4 kyuu Study Group

Hehehe, how ironic. I wanted to try out Genki 1 but the book was a little bit expensive compared to JFE, it's not a bad book but from the reviews I read Genki 1 is really good. Well at least the mp3s sound really nice :D

As well for the Cantonese language - it seems like a regular habit to add an English word in most sentences these days.

RE: Foreign Names in Kanji?

Since the 2008 Olympics are coming soon, I was wondering if in a Chinese broadcast, how would they display/announce Japanese or Korean names? As both of these languages both use Chinese characters.

RE: Is my sentence correct?

Yudan Taiteki ありがとうございました! Thanks for your very helpful reply, I just wanted to tell my Japanese teacher that in our next lesson. We haven't learned adjectives in the past tense yet, hehe I'll assume she won't mind. Thanks again!

RE: Noob Question

I use this book as well, I really recommend it. Here's a really good review: http://www.joewright.org/var/archives/2 ... index.html Just scroll down a bit. It really makes you study hiragana and katakana since after lesson 3 i think it stops using romaji altogether. Good luck.
