RE: Verb て+おく

hmm, i remember studying this before, but i'll try to add my notes. ~te okimasu is used to say that something is done in preparation for something else (which is usually, if not always, unnamed). for example, いすはそのままにしておいてください for me, its a bit similar to ~te aru. As in, ~te aru refers to something ...

RE: ~you ni / ~tame ni

ah! sorry guys, I should've specified, since I vaguely remember ~you ni having different usages. The ~ように I refer to in this case is for 'purpose', which is why its heavily related to ~ために [PURPOSE]~ように , [verb done to attain the purpose] The textbook even notes and tries to distinguish, but doesn't...

~you ni / ~tame ni

hiya all tried searching for this lil topic, but no luck. I've come across ~ために in my textbook, with ~ように taught some chapters ago. I'm trying to understand the differences in usage, but so far little luck. The textbook says verbs containing volition is used before ために, but not so with ように. Does thi...

~て くれます/あげます/もらいます

hiya, major headache here >< I've noticed there was a discussion/chat in your chatbox regarding this issue, and i've tried to read Tae Kim's exp, but to no avail. i've come across this structure in my textbook, and the examples aren't sufficient for me to get my head around it. does the ~て くれます/あげます...

RE: Adjectives.. I ate a tasty fish

haha, that helped quite a lot, thanks! its quite a coincidence actually, i was thinking today how to make longer sentences with multiple verbs/differing statements into just one sentence. i guess this is part of the answer!~

thanks!~

RE: Adjectives.. I ate a tasty fish

so so sorry to seemingly intrude on this thread, but for all those offering 'Yuube tabeta sakana wa oishikatta' as an alternative, aren't verbs meant to come at the end of a setence?

sorry, please enlighten me .. -_-

anyone got any rules to conjugate GROUP 1 verbs into ~te for

hiyas =)

My textbook has a short table of examples of group 1 verbs being changed from ~ます into ~て form, but not enough for me to notice the pattern. They also don't explain it either. Anyone have a few pointers?

Thanks in advance!~
