Some how or other, I ended up on that goyk site. One thing led to another and Bam! there it was. I think it is hillarious!

RE: being avoided is really annoying

Rude, yes. Worth making a stink over? Probably not. If I said arigatou and got a you're welcome back, I don't think I'd complain. Still got an appropriate response. It's kind of like that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer goes to the bank and get's a Hey greeting instead of hello. About the other stu...

RE: Living Conditions/Supporting a Family

Thank you for your honesty. I may have to reconsider this student route. Originally, I wanted to get a job there. But then my friends mother, who lives in Nagoya, said I'd be better served coming on a student VISA to learn the language, rather than be thrown into the middle of the ocean. She keeps a...

Living Conditions/Supporting a Family

Do you think it is possible to earn enough yen, on a student VISA, to support my family (I have a 4 year old girl) at a level that is somewhat comparable to the levels we currently enjoy here in the States (I teach Geography, 7th grade)?

A friend of mine is interviewing w/them this month. He's concerned about the lesson plans he must create.

Advice? Ideas?

Thanks.

RE: Apartment Rates: NAGOYA

I'm certain Nagoya is a tad cheaper.
By any chance, do you have photos of your flat? Or, does ANYBODY have photos of a flat?

Out of curiousity, what does 70-80k yen get you now-a-days?

Thanks again.

Japanese/Chinese use of Kanji

I recently read that the average person needs to know approximately 3000 kanji to read the newspapers in China (mainland). And in the 1950s, a working person only needed to know roughly 2000 to be considered literate (granted, that was some time ago). Having said all of that. . . . How many of those...

Aside from the teaching program with JET, there is also one for International Affairs. You need to be more advanced with your Japanese, however, before you can be accepted.

Headhunters/Recruiters

Greetings. Some time ago, I saw a post about headhunters/recruiters. One person had replied and said that, once in the field, it is very difficult to get out of. If that person could hit me up with a reply or a private message with more information on this, I would appreciate it. *I've searched for ...
