anime is a great way to learn a few words and some grammar here and there, but you really shouldn't try to learn japanese from mainly anime. 1. the talk can be stylized. naruto comes to mind. only an idiot would speak in -ttebayou form... 2. most groups are fairly accurate in their translations. the...

actually, i was taught that no makes it stronger.

Since it makes it stronger, it sort of asks for justification for your action rather than just a はい or いいえ.
And I'm pretty sure that men can use it with no problem... though i wouldn't bet my soul on it.
