Re: One phrase I am stuck with. Help is appreciated.

Thank you. It still feels like a tattered phrase, but the meaning is more clear.

Re: One phrase I am stuck with. Help is appreciated.

Well, things that I come up with do not glue together and, thus, do not make any sense:

要所が殆どだった。
I translated "that was the key point"

AAAの支配地と言えば
Speaking about the AAA's control (governing) of the place

相応に一目置かれる
It adequately observes(?), through observation (?), here I am lost.

One phrase I am stuck with. Help is appreciated.

There is this phrase I am stuck at for about an hour and a half: AAAの支配地と言えば、相応に一目置かれる 要所が殆どだった。 I will greatly appreciate If anyone would be so kind to explain how to approach the phrase, including the meaning of 支配地 相応に 一目置 and 要所が殆どだった。 in the given phrase. Thank you in advance. Konstantin

Re: うらしまたろう, a fairytale for the very beginners.

Thanks, guys! I made corrections based on you suggestions. I am still not quite happy with
「あれ?私のうちがありません」

I don't really like "Eh", "Oh" and "what". He was surprised and a little bit scared when he did not see his house. I am not sure that either of those represents the あれ?sound.

Image gallery.

Guys, are you still casting spells about the Member Image gallery? Within my account I have only this message "Embedded Gallery2 is not available or requested Gallery URL does not exist."

Re: A couple of questions about きって読むんですか.

I am sorry, I have one more question. Going through some food today, I noticed that there is a thing called 粽 (ちまき) - /(n) cake wrapped in bamboo leaves.

Can ち、ま、きって読むんですか be, actually, ちまきって読むんですか. Does it make any sense?

A short "I love sushi" thread.

I was just inspired by the shout box on my left about how does one can express their love for sushi. I did not want to pollute the shout box, so I'll write it here. I'd write: 私、すし、大好き! (わたし、すし、だいすき!)- I love sushi! How would you express your love for sushi? Kanji, kana, romaji, spoken, written - ...

Re: A couple of questions about きって読むんですか.

The printed page is a photo copy from some book or something. The context is that two guys visit a Chinatown, say in Yokohama, and choose food. One of them can hardly read. So he asks:

この漢字。。。、ち、ま、きって読むんですか?どんな食べ物ですか?

Maybe it is not きって but きつて? I am puzzled.
