Re: "Stop raining" in Japanese

I don't know if this is the direction you're looking to go into, but I was thinking it's a little weird to talk to a thing that isn't alive, so maybe a phrase like "please stop raining" (which is a mix-up of polite and rude btw, even in English, such as the incorrect fragmented phrase "May I help wh...

Re: Anime for kids

I would actually start her off with Yadamon, or Eto Rangers. ...maybe Yadamon is a little too childish, but Eto Rangers is a good show, if you can find it... Anpanman is good for K-3 (characters with heads named after bread? What's not to like??), but I think 4th grade would be pushing it.. Otherwis...

Help me out, Spanish viewers!

Hiya anime fans, Now that the JLPT is finally over, I'm hoping to get back into relearning some Spanish: I'm looking for anime that is dubbed in Spanish. If you know of any anime shows that have been dubbed into the Spanish language please tell me about it! Just a title is good, but if you have comm...

Re: What does English sound like to people who don't speak it?

Sims 3 kinda nailed it with all the Mel Un dooney, Mel Un Clarfush, and Shoo flee (usually followed by a waving of both arms to indicate dire need of food/toilet/shower/comfort/cleanliness/sleep)

Re: Translation

Hmm... I don't know how to say that either. I found this phrase: 出来具合が減る (decrease in the condition in which things are coming along) but I'm not sure about its usage since I pulled it from a dictionary.

Re: translations of some sentences

Yeah, great fixes! I was trying to remember what I was thinking when I redmarked this section, and realized it works well with an extra こと: 仕事は時間どおりに終わる ことが できますか? In this case, you don't need to change は to を. I was thinking about using particles to emphasize that the work will be done on time, rat...

Re: translations of some sentences

Red: Try again (fix!) Blue: You don't need this, but it isn't wrong to put it in. Can you finish the work on time? 仕事 は 時間どおりに 終わるできます か? I was bornt in 10/23/1992 私は1992年10月23日 の生まれです 。 *の生まれ is typically used to say what year/dynasty/zodiac you are born, such as 昭和の生まれ, ねずみの生まれ、88年の生まれ I come her...

Re: Breaks Between Sections

hmm... I took 1 kyuu, and my breaks were only about 15 minutes long. The tests were scheduled with 20~25 minutes of free space in between, but some of that is spent giving out and collecting papers, in addition to reading directions, waiting for people who are late, getting technical problems (book ...

Re: Good luck today!

1 kyuu, pretty well! I had a lot of fun taking this test, except for the reading (could they had picked anything denser to read???) Vocab: Easy! I only had to guess 3 questions Listening: The question with the kids and the triangles and circles messed me up a little, but otherwise easy, and also qui...

Re: colloquial Japanese

ladies speak like a machine gun I had watched a movie called "Funky Forest" (movie? more like a collection of nonsensical chaos that goes on for an hour) and in there these was a group of three girls who reminded me of that. They'd seriously say something だから私は何も知っていませんよ in like 1 second. There wer...

Re: Beautiful, My Beautiful in Romaji

Oh ...lol and here I was avoiding this thread because I thought it would be a long winded post featuring a romanized version of the Kawabata's speech Utsukushii Nihon no Watashi (Beautiful Japan and Myself). Sometimes I swear college has done more harm than good... Anyway OP, maybe you can find a si...
