Re: わ...違うわで, a few more questions

As I've said three times, I've already received sufficient help. I'm not going to feign dissatisfaction with the information I've received to placate one irrational member. If you guys want to continue the thread past its useful life to indulge the man, go ahead, but don't ask me to assist you in do...

Re: わ...違うわで, a few more questions

I see that we finally have someone on the forum who is not only an ingrate but even more of an ass than I am. Oh, I'm very grateful to those who have helped, as expressed in the posts above. I'm just not grateful to you , who wants only a punching bag. Take your anger somewhere else. Mods, please l...

Re: わ...違うわで, a few more questions

Others have given exceptional help already, as you'll see if you read the posts above. Send Mom some chocolates, have a calming aperitif, and shake off the bad day you're having.

Not possibilities here, but shin1ro and keatonatron have more than ably answered all my questions with the information provided. A big thanks to both of them for all their help.

わ...違うわで, a few more questions

1. An artist is talking in terse language about the relationships between her characters. Person A is a friend of Person B but is rather jealous of him and how popular he is. The artist writes the following about how A sees B: 何かとうまくゆくわ 性格も違うわで ライバル視 etc. I thought the inclusion of the second "wa" b...

Re: Help with 唯一, some scribbled kanji

Thank you both for feeling helpful; I really appreciate it!

(Reviewing the material, it seems that the artist is casting voice actors for her characters; no one apparently fits any possible reading of the kanji, though)

Help with 唯一, some scribbled kanji

I'm going through the production materials a manga artist posted regarding her work (I know, I know), and I have a few questions--some regarding grammar, some regarding scribbled kanji I can't read. 1. The illustrator is talking about a series of novels adapted from another property, and she's being...

Re: Help with a couple short audio clips

Do people really do that - hold candles with the lit end on the bottom? Is there some cultural detail I'm missing? It seems an oddly random detail to put in a ghost story.

Re: Help with a couple short audio clips

Thank you, both of you. A Google search did nothing for me on the "sakasa" bit, either. Apparently, candle technology has advanced in some way unknown to us.

Anyone else have any ideas on how you light a candle backwards/upside-down?

Help with a couple short audio clips

I just can't make out a couple certain words, even with slowing down the audio. The character's telling a ghost story: someone's in an old building at night, they come across a door that's not supposed to be there, they enter it and see something, they die - the usual stuff. Clip 1: "Sono mayonaka n...

Re: ~周りの部品

Heck, I'm gonna ask this anyhow - can someone clarify the sentence structure regarding the 大好きなもの、うわっついたもの bit? Is it part of the final sentence as listed, or should it be its own little sentence fragment, with a period after it instead of another comma? It's not the cleanest passage in terms of str...

1) A professor has recently died. He had developed an obsession with birds shortly before his death, and his friends discuss the reasons behind his interest. A little girl listening mentions that she likes birds herself. One friend comments: 「彼の頭の中は、このおちびさんと同じでしたよ。大好きなもの、うわっついたもの、フワフワ夢うつつで、未知への期待にいっ...
