Left side whitespace

I'm wondering why the whitespace has suddenly appeared at the left of the forums. It popped up sometime this evening.

Numbers of online users/online guests in Drupal are different from forums'.
Number of forums online users are shown at the bottom of Board index.
Like this:

Who is online
In total there are 47 users online :: 8 registered, 0 hidden and 39 guests (based on users active over the past 20 minutes)
Most users ever online was 103 on 26 Mar 2008 06:47 pm

Registered users: XXXX, XXXX,XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXXX, XXXX
Legend: Administrators, Global moderators, Tech

Drupal's are shown in "Who's online" column on the left.
Users who use Drupal frame forums see 3 "Who's online" on Board Index.
Forum users who use no-frame see 2 types of "Who's online".
I am just curious about the purpose of showing online members in previous left side white space.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier. The forum 'who's online' counts the people who are here at the forum. The sitewide 'who's online' counts people who have visited any page on the site. But it is a little confusing. I'll probably remove the number from the forum (but leave names of members online).
