New Idea

Hi!
Some days ago I had an idea I think is not bad. Do you know wikipedia?
Thinking about writing down my notes about japanese in a better way I thought it would be really cool if everyone could share his notes and build togheter a huge enciclopedia about japanese grammar, vocabolaries and so on.
More experienced people could write the more difficult parts, starters could help newbies in easier topics and the "nihongopedia" would converge to a useful resource for everyone in the community.
I would like to hear your opnion about this and I hope you find it interesting.
I think software will be easy to install too.

Nice idea. I know there are a few collaborative projects on the web for grammar, but I am not sure if there is a wiki type of setup. http://www.jekai.org/ comes to mind also.

If someone has used this software and thinks it may work, we could set up a thejapanesepage.com/wiki subsite or someone (or myself) could register a domain separate for it.

We don't really want to reinvent the wheel if this has been done extensively, but there is truth in the statement that one learns most what one teaches. It could be a learning experience for all involved.

I used this software simply as an user and it's very easy. I don't know how much is difficult to install properly and have it running.
I'm sorry but I haven't a server to test it. If you are interested I can search online for any reference and FAQs about installation.
I don't think there are other projects going in this direction. Let's wait anyway to see if anyone else is willing to contribute

I'd love to help with this kind of thing. I discovered Wiki recently, when I did I expected it to have all the info that this site has!

This wouldn't be the first such project, as a Japanese wikibook already exists, however it is not complete by any means. And, because of the nature of the Wikimedia Foundation's projects, anyone can add to it. So instead of trying to start up a new project, may I suggest we turn our attention to the existing Wikibook?

It may be a little off the beaten track, but I'm a great fan of Wikimedia, and the work they do, and feel they deserve as much recognition as possible. And many of the above references can prove useful in Japanese study.

Daichi you are right about http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Japanese seems a very promising homepage that I didn't know. I'll start to study and improve it as I can!
