Can't update my own profile!

Okay, here's a weird one.

I've been trying to add an avatar and change the skin of the board by editing my profile -- but every time I click to make the change, I get an error message: "User name AJBryant already in use" -- well, duh! *I* am using it, I'm online, and I'm trying to change my own bleeding profile.

Anyone have a clue as to what's wrong here?

I get that problem when my security settings are too high for the board. You might try temporarly setting your privacy and/or security to medium and try again.

Another solution might be to find the cookie for this site and delete it, or delete your cache. I didn't even notice the skins option before you mentioned them and just activated mine without any problem.

I am using IE though. Are you using a different program? Are others using a different program and having problems?

I use Netscape -- we don't have security levels. I'll have to try the cookie thing, though.

have you tried updating it from work or resizing your avatar? Someone on another thread said that helped. Trying from a library computer might work. I.e. might not hurt to try with IE just for updating your profile.

Ah HA! I logged out and switched to IE, then logged in. It worked. B)

I was able to upload using Netscape (it said it was successful), but the picture didn't show up.

I am wondering if there is a giant bug in Firefox or I just got a corrupted version running. Whenever I hold select and click to highlight a portion of text, it doesn't work. If I double click the textbox disappears. It is driving me crazy because it takes longer for me to highlight text. I will go to the bug submissions page now for Firefox.
