I second "the link is dead". It seems the server is down rather than the file not being there.

I tried with with IE6 and Firefox 1.0.7

funny, i just tried and the ▼▲ links scattered about didn't work for me either! which is really odd, since they work for other people (and they worked when i tested from work). so, i did some poking about and it seems my firefox had cached a previous version of the javascript file and wasn't downloading the new version that's now on http://www.thejapanesepage.com server. so, try this:

cut-n-paste: http://www.thejapanesepage.com/includes/jscript.js into your brower's location box and look at the javascript that it returns.

if you don't see some code that looks like this in the page:

Code: Select all

// Kanji Bigifier Code

var TJP = function() { }
TJP.jar = {};
TJP.jar.big = {};
function kS(nm) { kss(nm,1); }
function ks(nm) { kss(nm,2); }

...

but instead the javascript ends with:

Code: Select all
function insertText(elname, what) {
        if (document.forms['inputform'].elements[elname].createTextRange) {
...
                tarea.focus();
        } else {
                document.forms['inputform'].elements[elname].value += what;
                document.forms['inputform'].elements[elname].focus();
        }
}

then hit ctrl-R or shift-reload or whatever particular thing you need for your browser to force it to update a page.

i'm not sure what's going on with this, but once i forced my browser to download the new jscript.js file the ▼▲ links work like they should.

and just in case... if you're going to the link in the first post, that was just a static test page to work out browser issues and such. there's no reason to visit that link anymore (and it will probably go away soon...).

so, to summarize again. the ▼▲ links scattered about *should* make kanji/kana bigger and smaller. if it doesn't work, check that your browser is getting the latest version of http://www.thejapanesepage.com/includes/jscript.js and not using an old version from your cache.

otherwise, i'm miffed....
