Well, I take a night class with a few friends. I'm in my first year but I wanted to get a basis so I wouldn't be a complete noob when I took it at University.

I use a few of those learn japanese really fast books, a class (native teacher ;p) and I got a few of those "Minna no nihongo" books (Use them in class). I really recommend those books.

Dark, that may be true to a certain extent, but really anata is used by both men and women. KIMI is used to people younger or lower than you. You hear it often from bosses talking to secretaries for example.
