Making a practice Sheet
Hello,
I dont exactly post here a lot, but I do visit all the time and browse.
But anyway, I wasn't sure where to put this so I am putting it here because it is practice in a way, sorry if it is in the wrong place, I will delete it if it is.
I am making a practice sheet based on chapter 2 of Genki I, and was wondering if you guys could just check my sentances. I didnt use any kanji becuase it is still in the portion of the book that doesn't use it, and it is for a friend of mine who is just starting out with learning and doesn't know any kanji yet.
It isn't very complicated, and not very long, but it is just meant to be a review/study aid.
Here is it:
だれの・これ、それ、あれ、どれ・この、その、あの、どの
1)それはだれのかばんですか? (Takeshi's)
2) あれはだれのくるま(CAR)ですか? (Mary's)
3) このぼうしはだれのですか? (Jon's)
4) そのえんぴつはいくらですか? ([That one over there], 2,500 yen)
5) これはだれのさいふですか? (Sue's)
6) あのとけいはいくらですか? (1,200 yen)
7) どのペンはあなたのペンですか? (This one)
8) どれがわたしのほんですか? (That one)
9) これはなんですか? (Sweatshirt)
10)それはなんですか? (That one- Newspaper)
ここ、そこ、あそこ、どこ
1) すみません、おてあらいはどこですか? (Over there)
2) すみません、ぎんこうはどこですか? (Over there)
3) だいがくのとしょかんはあそこですか? (No – Over here)
も
1) たけしさんはにほんじんです。やましたせんせいはなにじんですか? (Yamashita Sensei is also Japanese)
2) メアリーさんはアメリカじんです。メアリーさんのおかあさんはなにじんですか? (Also American)
3) わたしはねこ(cats)がすきです。あなたは? (I also like cats)
Noun + ~じゃありません
1) やましたせんせいはがくせいですか?
2) たけしさんはかんこくじんですか?
3) これはじてんしゃですか?
4) さかなはやさいですか?
5) あなたのせんもんはれきしですか?
6) それはあなたのにほんごのほんですか?
Thank you for the help in advace. This is my first time doing something like this, so I hope I did decent

Re: Making a practice Sheet
Thanks for taking a look.
I actually questioned that sentance as well, and is part of the reason I am posting this here to check the work.
Was going for "Which pen is your pen."
How should I change it to make it correct? Would this be a better construction of that sentance:
どのペンはあなたのですか?
Thank you,
Kirtar

Re: Making a practice Sheet
Which pen is your pen?
---> どのペンがあなたのペンですか?
Which pen is yours?
---> どのペンがあなたのですか?
But please note that I said "unnatural" instead of "incorrect".
Honestly speaking, I don't know if it is regarded as "grammatically wrong" in your textbooks in English.
But we never use "は" in that sentence structure. It's different from:
Is this pen your pen?
---> このペンはあなたのペンですか?
Is this pen yours?
---> これはあなたのペンですか?
---> どのペンがあなたのペンですか?
Which pen is yours?
---> どのペンがあなたのですか?
But please note that I said "unnatural" instead of "incorrect".

Yes. Correct...ah...I think so.
In this particular case at least, どの should be followed by が not は.
Maybe you'd understand me. The basic grammar rules are very important but sometimes could sound artificial and unnatural to the native speakers in any languages. Please make it sure in a "thick" grammar book!
