Simple sentences about languages.
私は言語が好きです。私の母語はマルタ語と英語です。イタリア語を話します,でもフランス語少し話せます。今、日本語を話したい。
I am trying to say that 1) I love languages, 2)My native languages are Maltese and English, 3)That I speak Italian, and can speak a little French, and 4)I would like to speak Japanese as well.
Does it make sense?
Thanks

Re: Simple sentences about languages.
はじめまして。
You are doing very well!
でも here is usually used as a contradictory conjunction.
イタリア語を話しますし、フランス語も少し話せます。
話します & 話せます here are both very fine.
今、日本語を話したい isn't grammatically wrong, but this might have a tone as if you can't use Japanese despite being capable of speaking Japanese.
Like "今、泳ぎたい"
日本語も話せるようになりたいと思(って)います。 would be fine.
~ようになる is a very useful expression.
Anyway, your language ability is much better than mine.
( Only language I can speak is Japanese. )
Hope this helps.

Thank you so much coco
I've never heard of the expression yet, but I'm still new
And as for my language ability, I believe that it's all about geography. I happened to live in a place where it is necessary to learn Maltese, English and Italian. And I learned French at school for 7 years
. Now trying to learn Japanese to broaden my horizons
(PS : you can speak Japanese AND English - two of the world's most used languages)
