For sure!
I'm going in August for an (American) academic year!
Maybe I'll see you around!;)

If I were you I'd go to Nagoya...
Close to Tokyo; but Tokyo is too big..
Tohoku would be great too, but it is sort of isolated...
Plus, the winters are cold.

(But I'm sure that is also true for Chicago... and Wisconsin where I am!):p

Go to Nagoya, it's a great city. I lived there for just over a year.

Don't go to Tokyo, a never ending urbal sprawl. Nagoya is much nicer.

がんばってな!

He said both, read again :P

But anyways, if you can get into Tokyo U, then go for that. It is cheap and you will be worshipped (at least a bit more than me going to Waseda :))

Heh heh. It's funny when smart remarks backfire!

But yeah Tokyo U would be great fun, but IMO Tokyo is too overwhelming as a city. Nagoya is a smaller city, but not too small. The universities have lovely campuses and acheive academic excellence.

I DIDN'T comment about Tohoku because I have not visited there yet. :p:p:p

I was just giving my advice as a person who has lived in the Chubu area for a while.

I am sure you will have a blast in Japan wherever you go!

Cool thanks you guys for your posts. well i think Nagoya is about the same size as chicago ( population wise). I never been to anything as remotly as large as Tokyo. Perhaps if i go to Tokyo U i will need time to adapt...
the strangest things is when contacted the TOkyo U's Civil engineering office and request for application the only sent me a graduate applications. then i told them i wanted an undergraduate apps. they didn;t respond. it this a bad sign?
