He isn't, but is this how I would say it:

私 の おとうさん は べんごし です.

Thanks, dudes.

Talking of your own father to others, you'd use 父(ちち) rather than お父さん(おとうさん): 父(ちち)は弁護士(べんごし)です。Talking of another's father, you'd use お父さん:友達(ともだち)のお父さん(おとうさん)は弁護士(べんごし)です。Speaking to your father, you'd use お父さん:お父さん(おとうさん)、弁護士(べんごし)ですか。

Well, that used more Kanji than I can handle. :( Care to explain in romaji?

He has the hiragana transliteration next to each of the Kanji.

Alright, my mind is a tad clearer now. Let's analyse this because I have some questions.

Talking of your own father to others, you'd use 父(ちち) rather than お父さん(おとうさん): 父(ちち)は弁護士(べんごし)です.

So, 'chichi wa bengoshi desu.' Why? Wouldn't I still have to state 'watashi no' to indicate that it is my father?

Talking of another's father, you'd use お父さん:友達(ともだち)のお父さん(おとうさん)は弁護士(べんごし)です。

Would this translate as 'my friend's father is a lawyer?'

Speaking to your father, you'd use お父さん:お父さん(おとうさん)、弁護士(べんごし)ですか。

Well, this I get. I appreciate your help, guys. Sorry, though, for I can at times be thick.

well, i don't think you need to add 'watashi no' in the first sentence. i'm not really good at explaining...but.. i think if it's not stated as another's father...[like the second sentence], it will automaticly stated as [your father].

if i'm wrong, please correct me. hehe.

Wow, I read this real quick and saw chichi, then it seemed like you were laughing "haha" cause you were talking about 乳 (breast) :) 乳 ハハ

This is why I LOVE romaji
