at some point you'll need to start paying money but free elementary lessons are available at various places online. Just google "japanese free lessons" and save your allowence while you work your way through them. When you've exausted the free lessons you should have enough to buy a decent textbook.

Hello, and welcome to TJP ^^ I'm 13 and learning as well. What I did was ask for a textbook/workbook set for my brithday. Really, that's the best way to go. Like ishnar said, you can find various places online that can teach you things: simple conversations, grammar, vocab, ect, but sooner-or-later, you'll need to get a textbook if you really want to progress.

A basic conversation (this would be the ultimate "basic" ) would consist mainly of useful words and phrases, and very simple sentences, ne? Look up common words, greetings, and then learn some simple grammar, and then work your way up from there ^^
