A little text i translated.....
hi there, i just started japanese a few weeks ago and i just translated this text from a japanese page i got from this page. I only looked at the english part after having memorized the vocabulary. I hope someone can have a look over it and correct it for me please.
Thank you very much
So here it is....
Tanaka: こんいちわ。
Kimura: こんいちわ。
Tanaka: Kimuraさん。こちるわ私の友達です。Hiroko Yamadaです。
Yamada: はじめまして。Hiroko Yamadaです。どうぞよろしく。
Kimura: Ichirou Kimuraです。どうぞよろしく。
Yamada: あなた学生ですか。
Kimura: はいです。
Yamada: あなたのご専門か。
Kimura: 経済。あなたの学生か。
Yamada: いいえ。私わ秘書です。
Kimura: そうですか。

RE: A little text i translated.....
”こんいちわ” is wrong - it should be ”こんにちは” since what you're saying is in fact "about this day" -> kon: this, nichi: day, wa: topic particle (which is why its は and not わ). also, its never written in kanji (a mistake people often make, especially when using an IME and converting everything into kanji
). the kanji that an IME would give you would be 今日は which is read きょうは by anyone fluent in the language and does mean "today" but most possible wont be read ”こんにちは”.
"こちる" did you mean こちら? as in "this is my friend"? if so then こちら is the way to spell it
"はいです" sounds correct, but i'm not sure if its appropriate for this level of conversation (politeness). it sounds a bit direct. perhaps just はい would be ok, or "はい学生です"
"あなたのか" - i'm not very experienced, but this doesnt make any sense to me. it probably should be: あなあなたは学生ですか
"私わ秘書です" - the わ here, should be は

Oh how could i mess up te ha with the wa lol. Thanks for that pointer, and thanks very much for the correction. I am not quite sure where you get the あなたのか from i can't seem to find it in my text? Do you mean the fourth one from the bottom? That should say what is your field of study. Is that wrong?
Thanks again

ah you're right, there is no あなたのか - i meant "あなたの学生か", third line from the end.
as far as i can tell the line above that one is correct.

Well we could just tell you but there are online dictionaries that you can paste words like that into.
You can also search example sentences for phrases like 何ですか
その本のタイトルは何ですか。
What is the title of the book?

I don't suppose anybody will complain. This is the Practice Japanese forum after all.
