Those are excellent ideas, but following the 'better safe than sorry' line of thought, I'd like to pay (or better yet get kind, free permission) for the rights to host the segment.

Okay, I'll check reliable sources. I think I'll need to know the location (country) of the server where everything will be hosted, because the laws of that country will be applied.
The server is in the USA, isn't it?

As for acquiring the rights to use excerpts from copyrighted material I don't know any more than you know and I don't have any contacts whatsoever, so I'll concentrate my efforts on learning about fair use. As far as I have read, it looks to me that we'd be quite on the safe side (and I am known to be *way* more cautious than most people).
Have a look at section 2.8 here:
ftp://rtfm.mit.edu/pub/usenet/news.answers/law/copyright/faq/part2
This is a serious, informed and lengthy discussion on copyright issues including fair use. I'll let you go over it before I make any further comments on this.
I've also considered posting to the Usenet group misc.legal.moderated, where some cases like this have already been discussed. Of course you can do it yourself if you prefer.
Well, I'm done for today. I'll be online again in about twelve hours from now.

It will pop into your mind just as soon as you find out what "shure" means.
Now seriously, John2, I've counted about twenty misspellings in your last post. I think it will be easier for you to learn Japanese after you improve your English. That way your mind will more readily assimilate new words and their uses.
