Some more kanji help
I've progressed with the Genki textbook, but the only problem I get from it is it just gives you Kanji such as...
映画
音楽
晩御飯
And they don't break each kanji symbol down for you.
They expect you just to memorize the 2/3 compund Kanji as a word.
Do you know a place where they teach you the root kanji where you can build up?

You can use WWWJDIC - enter your word, hit the "Examine the kanji in a selected compound" radio button along with the radio button next to the compound you want to examine the kanji for.

I'm not sure what you're talking about, but maybe radicals?

Actually, learning kanji as part of words is usually considered more effective than learning them in isolation.

The best way is probably to do _both_. That's why kanji flashcards usually have a few common words for the kanji on them.
