How was your weekend?

Post by mteric » Mon 10.30.2006 1:52 pm

I wrote this conversation for a little practice. It's between two people who aren't very familiar with each other, talking about their weekends. How did I do? (I'm a little nervous about posting something like this, but I guess learning from your mistakes is a good way to get better!)

1:週末はどうでしたか。
2:楽しいでした。
1:何をしましたか。
2:プロ野球をテレビで見ました。
1:どちらのチームが試合に勝りましたか。
2:カージナルスが勝りました。
1:そうですか。
2:ええ、とても面白いですね。

Oh, that's right! Wow...I didn't even catch that. -katta is a great past tense definer for -ii adjectives.

Other than that, great!

-i adjectives, not -ii adjectives.

"Win" is usually written and read 「勝つ」(かつ), not 「勝る」(まさる), so:

1:どちらのチームが試合に勝ちましたか。
2:カージナルスが勝ちました。

Thanks, that makes sense. It appears wwwjdic confirms this:

勝つ(P); 克つ 【かつ】 (v5t,vi) to win; to gain victory; (P)

勝る(P); 優る 【まさる】 (v5r,vi) to excel; to surpass; to outrival; (P)

Ehh~? Oh...I get it! Yeah, that's what I meant. I'd forgotten about words like やすい and おもしろい.
