私はインターネットで友達に会いました。彼女は５年生の時には私の学校に行きました。５年の時で彼女に話しませんでした。今、日本に住んでいます。彼女の高校の名前は神奈川県立神奈川総合産業高等学校。大きい名前ですね〜。（＾＿＾）

彼女に日本語で話すことが試みました。毎日、日本語を勉強するのに、私の日本文法がまだ凄く悪いです。「練習しないと、上手になれないでしょう。」

私の趣味は言語を勉強する。

「１６歳」ですけど、それは多分ただの変換ミスですね。その「と」は「の」にした方がいいと思います。英語で"she's 16 and Japanese"といいますけど、日本語の直訳は不自然だと思います。ですが私はねーティブじゃないんです...

That happened last time I tried to type that word too. I wonder why the 変換 does that; ネーティブ is in the Koujien.

The trick is to know that 広辞苑 (and other dictionaries) have a weakness for following rules to a fault. What native speakers (of Japanese) type is ネイティブ (4,360,000) or possibly ネイティヴ (433,000) but not ネーティブ (35,800) and certainly not ネーティヴ (99).

The IME (generally) has a more relaxed attitude.

IMO it doesn't pay to get too uptight about rules and technicalities - it's better to go with the flow and try to pick up a feel for things.

P.S. I recently put in a whole bunch of メー -> メイ substitutions as additional headwords in WWWJDIC - it looks like the same needs doing for ネー -> ネイ.
