むかしむかし、あるひに、さむらいがはしってた。てきたちがはげしくおいかけてた。どんどんとあしおとがますますちかくきこえていた。さむらいは、とつぜんとまった、がけっぷちについたのだ。

Yes, not bad. I think the only grammar mistake is that 止まった should be changed to 止まって.
