Okay, I found out on Wiki that Azuma is a guy. lol. Oh yeah, I also picked out that he wrote hentai and pervy mangas when he had some issues in his life going on too.

Damn, I never thought Azuma would be a dude... I mean, writing a story about highschool girls EXACTLY like my friends and me, which was worthy enough to give ourselves nicknames from (I turned out to be Tomo... XD), it would seem kind of weird.

starting out with doujinshi is a pretty common practice even among famous manga-ka, the female ones might have drawn some you are more interested in.

Some mangaka also do doujinshi on the side as a hobby. Nakajo Hisaya (the mangaka of HanaKimi) has done several doujinshi alongside her professional works, for instance. There are other mangaka that also do both professional works and doujinshi.

That's probably because the エッチ variety is the most famous outside of Japan. Still, it's only one subset of a much wider genre.

I knew he used to do a lot of adult work under the pen name: Joji Jonokuchi. Actually, I think that's how a lot of seinen manga-ka started their careers, including upcoming manga-ka Barasui.
