The Fingers
Does each finger have it's own meaning.
On a Japanese drama(One Pound Gospel) Kousaku held up his pinky while saying "Promise". Is this what a pinky represents? If so what do the other fingers mean?

I don't know about all of the fingers, but the pinky is used for promising. Children link pinkies to seal a promise. It is called "yubikiri".

That particular one isn't limited to Japan, either. When I was a child, we always used the"pinky swear" to make promises.

Each finger also has a family relationship attached. Going from thumb to pinky: father, mother, older brother, older sister, younger brother. I believe they use this system in Japanese sign language too. I've heard a number of stories where Japanese sign language users came to the US and surprised a few people while talking about their older brother or eldest son.
