だんじり祭り

Post by burstandbloom » Sun 10.18.2009 5:46 am

Hey guys, this past Friday I went to the Tsuruhashi area of Ikuno-ku ward in Osaka and viewd a だんじり festival. I searched the forums and nothing came up, I thought that was strange so I thought I'd share. I don't know much about the meanings of this festival, but you can read up a little bit about it on wiki.

I took some pictures so check it out at my flickr page:

I'm not sure if the danjiri festival is pretty specific to the Kansai region, but it seems that way because a lot of the students I asked that are from other parts of Japan have never seen it before. It was a really great experience.

Nice picture!
I can't remember if I went to any of the Danjiri festivals when I lived in Osaka, but I don't believe I did.

You can find more information on them in the JP Wikipedia page http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%81%A0% ... A%E7%A5%AD

Seems to be an Osaka thing:
だんじり祭(だんじりまつり)とは、大阪府泉州地域などで、毎年秋に開催される祭。
