YES! FINALLY!

Postby Kisshu » Wed 05.03.2006 3:44 pm

Hello you all!! It's ma B-DAY!!! YAYNESS!! i've gotten $80 from different relatives and I am thinking of buying a yukata(surprise.. haven't we heard this before?)... I jsut talked to Japanese store owner that lives near us and he said that it doesn't really matter what length the yukata comes down to as long as its under the knees and over te ankels. if that is the case, then I can get a kimono even though I am rather tall!

As you already know, I am 5'9 1/2" and weigh around 150 lbs. I want a yukata that is FROM JAPAN or made in Japan that would fit me.. Most large kimonos are 180 lbs and 5'8" so I thik the waist would be too large. What size do you suggest I use?

Also.. where would you suggest I look for a nicely priced Japanese yukata? I am thinking of buying it onle.. any suggestions?:D

Don't worry about the weight, it isn't exactly a fitted garment. If it fits someone who weighs 180, it will fit someone the same height who weighs 150; the lighter person will just tie the obi a bit tighter.

...

What kind of proverb was it? "If gaijin want yukata, not good."? I'm sure millions of Japanese people want yukatas, how is this different?

As reply to all your questions, I have a couple word fairs to go to, I have a convention to go to and my friends and I are also going to wear them a few times shopping. Also, after highschool, I plan on going to Japan so and want to wear it there.

Also.. so I would just tie the obi tighter? So you would go for the large size?

A proverb? What kinda proverb?
