travel expenses
hi there.
gonna go to japan soon (this summer!!)
is it cheap to travel by train?
do you know any prices, or maybe a website or something?
I'll be staying there for one entire year -
do you reckon it's profitable to buy a really cheap car? is that easy over there? how about patrol? etc. etc.
thanks a lot for help!!!
best regards
dennis.

RE: travel expenses
A car is probably a big hassle for only a year. Trains are generally the way to go. More info on where you will be going will help. Any big city the trains are the easiest and they go everywhere. If you want to save some money just buy punch cards at the train station. You get a discount when you prepay. It adds up in your favor pretty quickly and you don't have to bother buying the little individual tickets everytime you go somewhere.
Like I said, depends on where you are though...

I don't know where that is
Many cities have their own webpage for tourists. You can find out about their train system and whatnot.
Who are you going to stay with? Whoever you are in contact with over there should be able to give you much more detailed info than we can, but usually trains are convenient and in just about every town.

Here is the city's homepage- (According to Wikipedia the town you stated doesn't exist. Nasushiobara is the amalgamation of a few little areas.)

Cars and scooters can be real pain, but if you have a job there the employer might hook you up and just take a fee out of your paycheck.
