Japan time
OK, I know this system of telling time isn't used much anymore (if at all) but does anyone know about the old system of keeping time (circa 1865)? In the book I'm reading, it refers to 8:00 as the Hour of the Dog. Incidently, I'm reading about the incident at the Ikedaya where the Loyalist rebels were slaughtered by the Shinsengumi.

I think 20:00 is the Hour of the Dog. It should be the same creatures as the Chinese zodiac, with midnight being an instant of time within the Hour of the Rat. Each Hour is actually two hours in duration.
