how do you cook octopus?
hiya there! recently my brother has been into sushi and octopus because he's on his (as i'd call) "body builder" diet. so, my mom and i bought half a pound of ocotopus, and i was wondering if you could give me recipies to make out of ocotopus!! it'd be totally awesome! my mom thinks it'd be good to fry, but she wanted me to check online and stuff. i told her i'd check here first. ^_^
so, if you have any recipies or ways to cook ocotopus or squid, TELL ME! lol! thanks!!

time to make 25 min 15 min prep
Change to: servings US Metric
2 kg baby octopus
1 tablespoon fresh lemon rind, grated
3/4 cup lemon juice
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons hot chili sauce
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1. Remove and discard heads and beaks from octopus, cut octopus in half.
2. Combine octopus, rind, juice, oil, sauce and garlic in large bowl, cover, refrigerate 3 hours or overnight.
3. Drain octopus from marinade and discard marinade.
4. Add octopus to heated skillet or barbecue, cook over high heat until just tender.
Edit: All reviews were either 4 or 5 (out of 5) stars
Easiest might be to just go the yakiniku route and just put it in a pan with some oil and cook it. then put it on a salad...
PPS, I just had a eurika moment: OKONOMIYAKI!!!!!!!!!!!! Mmmm.... I'll try to find the recipe. I doubt you'd be able to find the mix easily, though.

It's just flour and dashi.
And if you're really gung-ho about it, you can buy it in any asian food store.

Grilled (is that broiled in the USA) Greek style aka Htapothi sta Karvouna. One of my favourite dishes at the local Greek restaurant. There's a recipe here and another here
Don't complain to me that people kick you when you're down. It's your own fault for lying there

if you boil (as you would with calamari) you either do it for one minute or 60 minutes.. anywhere inbetween and it just won't taste good at all.

Sometimes I think that I'm afraid of thinking, and that scares me.

talking about seafood, i thought was interesting that i found out ppl in japan purposely know how to make clams have pearls and are "pearl farmers". haha. grrr... i told my mom about how to make some octopus and she hasn't done it yet!! or i just never saw her do anything.... doom! 3!
but, i'm going to try and get her to buy some more octopus and i want to try some myself!

Perhaps takoyaki might be a good option, but it's difficult to make it without the special pan, and I don't know if you can easily find the pan in your area. ^^;; but it was the first thing doinkies thought of.

a good rule of thumb here is 60 seconds or 60 minutes.. for some reason cooking after 1 minute and up to 5 minutes the octopus is very very rubbery.
