Japanese and Robots
Today I was reading a magazine about Japan and its robots and I found a so interesting thing I want to share: karakuri.
It's something I never read or heard before and it was really fun discovering another hidden (for me) part of the amazing japanese culture.

From the Wikipedia entry:
Not quite sure what that's doing in an article about Karakuri...
Thus, centuries before the Meiji period, during which Japan adapted Western technology, along with law and even military drill (which it took from the Prussian army), it had already prepared its shift to modernization, treading its own unique path of Enlightenment. This reappropriation of Western culture allowed Japan to become the modern geopolitic power that it is today, a shift which the Western world realized during the 1904-05 Russo-Japanese war, when for the first time a colored people took the advantage on the white man.

Yeah, I've seen them before.
I fell asleep watching something on Discovery Science and when I woke up there was a program about those on, some companies have adpated the technology to carry products (that are being assembled) from one conveyer belt to another, it saves them a ton of money since it runs on kinetic energy rather than electricity.
I guess that's were the Japanese fascination with robots began.
