Lolita

Postby Hatori » Sat 12.30.2006 2:36 am

well, i'm not really into the whole "Lolita" fashion, but who thinks it's cool? who think it's bad? i like the Sweet Lolita, but it's nothing you'd see me wearing. XD but i don't think the Goth-Loli is very pretty.

NOTE: Lolita is a japanese fashion that has to do with A LOT of laces and frilly types of dresses. Goth-Lolo is mainly blacks and sort or gothic looking with it's own original taste. Sweet Lolita is supposed to be the pinks and brighter Lolita clothing.

I think it's pretty nifty. My wife agrees. Goth-Loli, when done well, can be very elegant.

I think it looks pretty, but I wouldn't dress it. From what I've gathered to some it's a way of life rather than a fashion.

*mumble * fads *mumble mumble* people who copy each other *mumble growl*

Nothing against fashion trends, really, it's the people who think they're being unique or original because they follow a certain fad that bug me (i've met too many people like that).

I would have to say that I feel the same way as comradejoe regarding fashion trends. I'm pretty satisfied with wearing a suit and tie or something a little less casual like a polo. There are a few people in my japanese class that have an unexplained obsession with the Lolita fashion. I personally feel that some people can spend way too much being a fashion bug. I feel bad for my friend attending an art college in Boston where fashion is law.

Is it really like that "emo" fad? People who think they're being original? I think the style is original itself, and if the people like it, they can do it. The thing is if they actually claim that they're original themselves, and are naturally like that. Don't get mad at everyone who does it, I don't think they all are like that. Atleast it's not emo.

People expressing their unique individuality by assiduously copying exactly what everyone else is doing is not a new phenomenon.

i like all lolitas. goth lolita, punk lolita, sweet lolita, etc.

and fashion is just a way people express themselves, so i don't see why people are feeling so upset over it. are you saying people buying ipods are all jerks because they simply like the clickwheel, like all others?

and what's more, they make their own clothes (the hardcore ones). there is bound to be some originality and personality in it, more or less. it's just like fantasy book writers. are you saying books like LOTR, harry potter, dragonlance, eragon are all not original piece of work?

LotR, definitely original. Dragonlance -- not as much. Harry Potter -- couldn't say. Eragon -- don't make me laugh. That's Star Wars with a veneer of D&D.

I personally like the Lolita style. I would never wear it, of course, but I think it's pretty interesting.

And you have to remember the ones who pioneered the style were being original. Get enough to follow an original style, and it's not so original anymore -- it's a subculture. But who said all subcultures were bad?

I think punk lolita and goth lolita are pretty cool. The other types can be pretty cool too, if done right.
