Hello, my name is James MacWhyte.

Postby keatonatron » Wed 04.04.2007 6:55 am

Today I had my new student ceremony, and next week I start classes at my film school in Tokyo.

I made a personal web page, complete with blog, for me to use to document my experiences and display my completed films and other works of art. There aren't many entries at the moment, but I'm sure to have a lot more good stuff to write about in the days to come.

I will be keeping two blogs, one in Japanese and one in English. Even though they will probably be quite similar, they aren't translations of each other, so don't try to use them that way. The English blog will be written with English-speakers in mind, and the Japanese blog written with Japanese speakers in mind, so the details included in each might be a little different. Obviously my Japanese won't be the same as a native speaker's, but it might still be good reading practice for some of you.

And for those of you who aren't interested in practicing your reading or hearing about my experiences being the only white person at a Japanese film school, at least check it out to see the fireflies I've captured (er, created) to live on the main page.

Site worked fine for me although the videos were unaccessible.

Out of curiosity, what kind of degrees does Tōhō College of Film award? Or what would it be equivalent to in the States? Is the average student coming straight from high school or are the majority college graduates such as yourself?

Sincerely,
-Eric

Nice to meet you James MacWhyte. You'd better find a different avatar though...Keatonatron might not like it and have you banned. ;)

Are you still pursuing acting or was this always your goal? I guess the blog will answer all. Thanks for the heads up. After the Dance Revolution piece I've often wondered what became of your artistic ambitions.

Oh, OK. I checked it in ff and it worked. You should've edit it so that it'd display on most browsers. It doesn't work in Opera nor in ie6.

Hmmm, interesting. It's strange, but only in ff(1.5) the right entry page is displayed
http://www.jmacwhyte.com/index_en.htm
In other browsers it wants to display http://www.jmacwhyte.com/index_sk.htm. That's very strange and from the sk suffix I presume that it's some automatic localization (sk stands for Slovakia).

(Edit)
OK, that would be it. In Opera I have selected slovak as default language for web pages and IE takes this probably from Windows local settings. If it's some server ultra-turbo-maxi intelligent setting, please turn it off :) (or provide direct link to index_en.htm)

(Edit2)
Oh, I see your intentions! Based on the language settings you display either english (index_en.htm) or japanese (index_ja.htm) version. Well, but you should have one "default" option for not mentioned cases.

I'm watching it in IE6 right now, so I don't think it's a browser problem.
