Medical history outside Japan, and insurance.

Hi,

What happens with your medical notes from before you moved to Japan?

I ask this because I have an existing condition.

If it hasn't gone away by the time I have to move, will I be covered by my medical insurance (probably corporate but who knows?) in Japan or have to pay all of it myself?

Cheers

You were sufficiently vague, weren't you?

I presume your doctors where you are keep your medical records, but you can ask for copies of anything and bring it along with you.

Japan has socialized medicine and the system will care not one whit whether a condition was pre-existing or not.
Never underestimate my capacity for pettiness.
