IMO, there is no definitive correct way to study language, you will have to push your way through it. Pick something you're interested in, be it a story book, a magazine or online articles and read it or a Japanese show and watch it. At this point, you should be independent enough to look up most words in dictionary. You'll never realize how this can kick your Japanese up to a whole new level. Come back here with your questions that you need to verify, that's what a forum for!
